The Ryder Cup in 2023 could mark the definitive national and international launch of golf in Italy. According to experts, this event will change the history of golf in Italy.
The first Ryder Cup was held in 1927, and it was named after the tournament’s organizer, Samuel Ryder.
Since then, the best 12 European and American golfers have met on alternating continents every two years. There are no monetary prizes, but the game is played solely for the sake of honour and prestige.
The most recent edition, held in France in 2018, drew over 270,000 spectators and was broadcast live to over 600 million homes across more than 160 countries.
The Ryder Cup will be held in Rome this year at the Golf Club Marco Simone from Friday, September 29 to Sunday, October 1, 2023. 50,000 spectators from all over the world are expected each day. It should be noted that this is the most prestigious international golf competition, ranked third in importance and popularity after the Olympics and the World Cup.
The Skal of Rome, which has been promoting golf in the capital for many years, couldn’t help but support this great event by re-proposing the international Skal golf competition that was so successful last year.
To that end, the Skal Club of Rome has announced the “Second International Skal Roma Golf Challenge 2023” which will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Golf Club Fioranello.
The Skal golf competition has been added immediately after the Ryder Cup in the hopes that Skalleagues who have come to Rome to participate in the aforementioned event will extend their vacation by a few days to compete in the international golf competition organized by the Skal of Rome.
More information, including organizational and logistical ideas, will be communicated shortly.
