On the 3rd of April over 40 skalleagues from 9 European countries joined the webinar held in English by Josep Ejarque, a leading DMO specialist. Here are the slides.
The webinar, organized by the Skal Europe Academy, was stimulating and gave a lot of food for thought. Participants were very active with questions as the subject was provocative in its actuality.
Tito Livio Mongelli, the new president of Skal Italia and organizer of the Academy, reminded us that “this kind of activity is built on the model of Rome Skal Academy, as Skal Roma, thanks to the drive of Past President Antonio Percario, was the first Club to organize it, well before the pandemic“.
The discussion that followed the presentation focused on the challenges posed by the implementation of sustainable destination policies that favour quality over quantity. Prof. Ejarque underlined that such policies should derive from a proper plan, where the unique character, tourism assets, and social network of residents work together to offer unique products of the destination, not necessarily aimed at wealthy segments only.
The webinar ended with the traditional Skal toast, and participants look forward to the next Skal Europe Academy appointment on the 8th of May, 2023.
