The Advanced Leadership Foundation, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Incyde Foundation held on October 26 and 27 in Barcellona, a World Summit to discuss the future challenges facing the global economy in the short, medium, and long term, bringing together some of the most influential leaders and institutions to envision the future.
Skal Europe was represented in the World Summit by vice president Francisco Rivero.
The Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization, Zurab Pololikashivili, accompanied by José Luis Bonet, president of the Chambers of Commerce of Spain and Juan Verde, president of The Advanced Leadership Foundation, organizer of the event, inaugurated with the authorities the Summit attended by 300 people from all over the world.
Spain’s Minister of Tourism, Reyes Maroto, virtually opened the Summit with a speech.
Ministers of tourism of several Mediterranean countries including Spain, Greece, Egypt, Algeria, and Jordan, together with their equivalents of East Asia countries debated both virtually and face to face on topics such as Plans for the regeneration of tourism, economic funds for Tourism of future through Next Generation of the European Union, and the presentation of space tourism.
The CEO of Skal International, Daniela Otero, intervened on the set of Radio Televisión Española at the round table on “The rights of consumers and the protection of tourists” together with Miguel Mirones, president of the Institute of Tourism Quality (ICTE).
The signature of the “Barcelona Call-to-Action for the Future of Tourism” document by UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashivili closed the Summit. The international document commits to more ethical and sustainable models of innovative tourism.
