During the Skal Europe online Annual General Assembly, President Franz Heffeter proudly presented two Special Awards that recognized outstanding achievements in club revitalization and membership growth within the Skal Europe network. These awards celebrate the extraordinary dedication, leadership, and innovative strategies demonstrated by two remarkable individuals who have breathed new life into their respective clubs, setting an example for the entire Skal community.
1. Special Award for Club Re-birth – Switzerland (Skal Lausanne)
The first Special Award was presented to Stéphane Jayet, President of Skal Club Lausanne, for his exceptional efforts in revitalizing the club when it was on the brink of closure. Faced with a dwindling membership and the risk of shutting down, Stéphane stepped in with vision, leadership, and incredible popularity. Drawing on his experience as Vice President of the Swiss Travel Association and his active role in local politics, Stéphane brought a fresh perspective and innovative ideas to the club. Through his dynamic approach, he transformed Skal Lausanne into a vibrant and thriving community once again.
Stéphane’s ability to organize engaging events, from simple dinners to the impressive SKAL-COSTA cruises on the Mediterranean, made Skal Lausanne highly attractive and visible. His consistent efforts to bring in new members almost every month have made Skal a respected name in the region, with all eyes turning to the club as a model for success. For his outstanding work in breathing new life into Skal Lausanne and making it a thriving community once more, Stéphane Jayet was rightfully honoured with this award.
2. Special Award for Club Membership Development – Germany (Skal Düsseldorf)
The second Special Award was granted to Michael Meyer, President of Skal Club Düsseldorf, in recognition of his exceptional dedication and tireless efforts in driving the club’s growth and development. From the very start of his presidency, Michael infused the club with renewed energy, leading it in a fresh and dynamic direction. Despite not being a “younger Skål member,” Michael’s enthusiasm and commitment have been nothing short of inspiring, setting a high standard for others to follow.
Michael’s innovative approach to attracting new members included actively engaging with local politicians and tourism organizations, which significantly contributed to Skal Düsseldorf’s impressive membership growth. His efforts have made the club a model for others to follow, demonstrating how passion and strategic outreach can build a thriving community. Michael’s active participation in international committees and World Congresses further exemplifies his dedication to Skal, proving that he doesn’t just participate—he truly lives the Skal spirit. For this unwavering commitment and for setting a shining example in membership development, Michael Meyer was awarded this special recognition.
