During the next General Assembly of Skal Italia (in the second half of March 2023 in Palermo) the Sustainable Tourism Quality awards will be assigned to the best projects from Italian Clubs.
The initiative is very successful as it gives individual members and clubs colossal visibility.
The categories for sustainable projects are the following:
- COMMUNITY AND GOVERNMENT PROJECTS
- COUNTRYSIDE AND BIODIVERSITY
- EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES AND MEDIA
- MAJOR TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
- MARINE AND COASTAL
- RURAL ACCOMMODATION
- TOUR OPERATORS-TRAVEL AGENTS
- TOURIST TRANSPORT
- URBAN ACCOMMODATION
These are the same categories of the Skal International Sustainability Awards.
The reason for this is that the winners will then be enrolled in the Skal International World Awards and in the Skal Europe Awards (these last awards will be assigned during the Skal Europe General Assembly in the fall).
National Committee sustainability Awards become a way to push members to participate while selecting the best projects for the continental and worldwide awards.
The deadline for Skal International Sustainability Awards is June 30, 2023 (to be confirmed). If national awards can be organized before June there is the time to present winning projects to Skal International.
Finally, Skal Italia and Skal Europe will publish all the projects, giving other members inspiration for their sustainability activities.
